WiFi not working / Orange pi i 96 / Assistance requested

Hi There,

Installed Debian Orangepi i96 image and so far, I have not had any success configuring WiFi. I have done the following:

  • type (as su-) orangepi-config
  • Choose WiFi settings
  • if I choose “scaning WiFi” option, the system is unable to find AP, which I think is a bit confusing, as WiFi on board does not have an IP address in the range of my AP. Do I need to configure a system file with a static IP so it connect to my AP?
  • if I choose “Connect WiFi” option, even though I type my AP and password, and reboot the board, it does not display an IP address.
  • I might be doing it wrong, but to reboot the board I type “shutdown -halt”, is there any other way?
  • Also power button does not seem to be working. Do I need to push it for a time (i.e 5 sec)

any help is highly appreciated

Can you try ‘sudo iw wlan0 scan’ from command line and check if results are returned.

Yes, that means the low-level software is working and able to scan for access points.
Now you should test to scan and connect via command line with e.g. nmcli:

nmcli device wifi rescan
nmcli device wifi list
nmcli dev wifi connect AP_NAME password AP_PASSWORD
