Just bought rock960 board and manage to download
the ubuntu 16.04. But upon boot-up screen pop up
login prompt & password. What is the default login ID &
password for this image.

On other boards the default username and password is “linaro”. If that does not work then you will have to wait for someone who actually knows. 
The images for rock960 don’t come from Linaro so I think they use different credentials. The following answer is for Debian for Rock960 but can you see if it works on Ubuntu as well (where I couldn’t find it in the readme)?
