How to operate AP mode?

#1

Hi

I trying to create wifi ap mode.
So, I refer to script blow link
http://pakl.net/hotspot_410c_configure.sh
http://pakl.net/hotspot_410c_launch.sh

run scripts,However i can’t found AP name.
I use debian 66 version.
I hope give us a simple way to modify or how to operate in ap mode.

-hotspot_410c_launch.sh

There’s a success report in the topic below. @Marcelo has provided all the config files which is really awesome. Perhaps ask in that topic if you are still having trouble after reading it?

Hello,

I have one question regarding above script.

Why are we need to turn of network manager to start WiFi AP mode?

I want to use 410 dragon board as network gateway and I need ethernet and WiFi AP both same time. when I do not turned off Network Manager then it does not active wlan0.

If I stop network manager and enable AP mode then stat network manager then kernel is crashing. I am using ubuntu on dragonboard.

I need help to solve below crash.

Not sure about the crash but the key thing if you want to run an AP is to make sure NetworkManager does not attempt to manage wlan0, otherwise it will rip down the access point. If the AP has a static (wired) IP address then it would be fairly common to disable NM because there’s not much point in managing it. However it certainly should be possible to get NetworkManager to look after the wired connection but you must keep it away from the wireless one.

Good starting points to read about this are https://wiki.debian.org/NetworkManager and the “AP mode in Linux” discussion mentioned earlier in this thread.
