is the bootloader source code available in some place? if no, is there a plan to opensource it?

UEFI for the 960 is still under development afaik, in the mean time have a look here https://github.com/96boards-hikey

Thanks for the information and the link and I can see some hikey960 branches, I will check it. I suppose once it is ready instruction will be published in order to generate the booltoader images (same as for hikey board)
