Flashing recovery partition

Hi all,
In DB820c for recovery mode support, I have booted the board in recovery mode, Using copy command (cp) I have overwritten the boot partition with the recovery partition image and rebooted the board.
The board is booted successfully. The way I am following is correct or not? Will it cause any issue?.
If the boot image is corrupted, Is there anyother way to flash the boot partition with the recovery image?.

It is OK to use a booted kernel to write to the UFS.
