After trying to install the ecryptfs-utils package i have noticed the kernel is missing the ecryptfs module. Is there any change this module will appear in the latest Debian kernel? Without the module encryption with ecryptfs is not possible? Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

We can add encryptfs module in next debian release but in the meantime, you can manually build it as either builtin or loadable module and install it on HiKey960 as per the below guide:
