Dragon Board stuck again at Qualcomm DL Mode (Not able to recover to fastboot/adb mode)

96boards

#1

I have worked with my Dragonboard several times and changed from Linux to Android and back to Linux. But recently I flashed bootloader using the regular method (referring same tutorial, https://www.96boards.org/documentation/consumer/dragonboard/dragonboard410c/installation/board-recovery.md.html#using-usb-flashing-tools), but it is not detecting SD Card with linux/android anymore. It looks, not able to boot the SBL and load the LK, it keeps on rebooting. Even I tried to flash the entire system in Windows with Windows10 IOT image using USB Boot but it also fails.

  • changed the S6 to USB Boot mode and flashed the bootloader using qdl tool

  • Then I flashed recovery sd image( dragonboard-410c-sdcard-rescue-108 ) and put it in SD card slot and repowered the device, PBL is not restarting, but there is no trace from serial console, but when i ejected the SD card, i found some more interesting logs mentioned below.

Can you disable SDCARD BOOT, flash recovery via QDL, and then try to boot in fastboot mode (VOL DOWN while booting).

#3

It looks we damaged the hardware while trying to tap out soldering wires from JTAG test point. Now power manager MCU PM8916 burned out. We have to replace it. How can we identify other parts which got damaged if we replace it?

#4

Predicting what and how a board is broken is difficult. There’s the schematic of course but It is possible you might be better off just getting another board (which you could also use to help debug the first by comparing voltages, etc).
