16.06 Release Status?

What is the status according the 16.06 release for Android and Debian images? We already have July.

Hi @jeeppler,

Yesterday, finally the 16.06 was officially released.

Happy hacking.

Before I was writing this post I was looking at the installation instructions. The installation instructions for the Reference Platform still point’s to the files for build 16.03, it would be nice if you could update those instructions.

HiKey RP Download

Hi @jeeppler,

This is the new link pointing to the 16.06 build.

Where you could go by selecting HiKey from this top link.

@ldts-atsuka thanks that is helpful.

I have two more questions about this release:

  1. SD Card vs. fastboot. Is the fastboot version faster* on the board, since it is installed on the eMMC 5.1 internal flash or is the SD card faster?

*Faster in terms of loading applications and the operating system.

  2. 2. Why is there no linaro version (Crossroad) section anymore)

Hi @jeeppler,

Yes, the fastboot version faster since the image will be installed inside the emmc and boot from emmc, while SD card image boots from SD card.

I think you are referring to this link.

For equivalent for 16.06.
Please give us the time to investigate what is the plan.

Hi @jeeppler,

Yes, the fastboot version faster since the image will be installed inside the emmc and boot from emmc, while SD card image boots from SD card.

The above was wrong information. The both SD card method and fastboot method will install the image inside the emmc and boot from the emmc for RPB 16.06, so both will have the boot speed of emmc.

The installing from SD card is easier for who do not have to use command line.

@ldts-atsuka you should add this information:

To your installing instructions, it helps people to take a decision.

Yes, I was referring to that link:

this question is similar to, the question I asked before in the HiKey forum: Difference between Reference Platform (RP) and Linaro?
