Sporadically Wi-Fi communication loss while the device is still connected to the network

Hi @Loic,

We are working on a product based on APQ8016E and using WCN3660B. We are working on Linaro-20.07 latest release.

Issue description:

Sporadically we have a Wi-Fi communication loss while the device is still connected to the network.
During this communication loss we see that we don’t receive responses to any network requests sent from the device like TCP, HTTP, ping etc…
All the Wi-Fi tools(iw, wpa_cli) report that we are connected to the network during this state.
If we reconnect to the same network(SSID) the issue is being resolved and communication starts working again.
With some APs this communication loss happens a lot even after reconnection.
With some APs we’re hardly reproduce the issue at all.
Known problematic APs are:

  • D-link DSL-G256DG
  • Arris TG1652S

We’re still don’t have an air capture of the issue and work hard to find a reproduction scenario.

Can you please help us over here?

Parth Y Shah

Hi @loic,

Any update over here?

You need an air capture and a way to reproduce that on 410c. Would be useful to increase log level of the mac layer as well.

Sure, @loic, We will try to provide air capture and reproduction scenario.

Hi @loic,

Please find the issue description as below.

Device connected to online visit (so there is a connection to WebRTC conference). After about 90 seconds device disconnects from the conference (~85 sec of capture). Pings from device to AP don’t work (no answer).

After 90 seconds in disconnection state, we run DHCP requests (~185 sec of capture) without success. After about 50 seconds device makes a new authentication (to the same AP) and receives an IP (~235 sec of capture).

After this, the device successfully connects back to the conference and works.

Kindly suggest here.

hi @ParthShah, If you reuiqre community help it would be good for you to do a pre-analysis of what could be wrong in the capture. It’s very time consuming to log at a whole dump log to find the issue for you.
