Can't boot into linux after flash it through official guide

Hello everyone,
I’m stepping through the official guide https://www.96boards.org/documentation/consumer/hikey/hikey960/installation/linux-fastboot.md.html and everything goes fine except that I cannot finish the final booting process. Below is the tail of the UART output.

Please check if the jumper has been set to normal boot mode:

Is it because the new 4G hynix flash on the board? I found a post which has the same issue with me https://discuss.96boards.org/t/debian-9-fails-to-boot-after-flash/5500/6.
Do you have any solutions about this issue?

From the log in the page you mentioned, it has different UFS model with my side. Could you confirm if this is same with you?

BTW, I suggest you could try the debug version for booting images:
https://snapshots.linaro.org/96boards/reference-platform/components/uefi-staging/latest/hikey960/debug/

This can give more debugging info for UEFI and if possible you could share back if have some more useful info.

My hikey960 also has 4GB DDR, from the log it should not related with DDR?

@leo-yan Hi! After flashing the debug booting images, my board didn’t occur the original problem.
Then I reflashed the original booting image, it didn’t occur the problem either, which was magic…
But it still can’t finish the booting process.

     - Boot args (cat /proc/cmdline)
       - Check rootdelay= (did the system wait long enough?)

This is definitely the error with rootfs, the uuid is defined for rootfs partition. So are you using this ptable [1]?

@favoryoung From logs you have provided, it seems that Debian kernel UFS driver fails to detect hynix UFS flash. That could be the reason that it fails to mount rootfs partition. As @leo-yan mentioned in one of other post on the forum regarding an issue with hynix UFS chip as:

So I would rather suggest you to boot Debian via SD using following steps:

  1. Download SD card image as pointed here [1].
  2. Follow hikey SD card installation guide [2], it works for me on hikey960 too.

But it’s such a waste not using the 32G flash. It’s better to have a kernel that applies that Hynix patch. I’ll try to build one as the below post.
